We nearly lost hope.... Hopefully you have been following us on social media and you have seen that we have gone and landed the keys to the new home for our very own Maverick brewery. If not go an follow us on Facebook, Instagram or twitter to keep up to date. It has been a long time coming with many up's and downs along the way but we could not be more stoked than we are right now. As you will know, we have been on quite the roller coaster these last 2 years or so, bringing Maverick to life. Now it has eventually led us to here and we already getting things underway and we are full steam ahead. We had been keeping this potential new place under wraps just in case we were disappointed again at the last minute. We have got our hopes up too many times to get ahead of ourselves. So we couldn't believe it when we got the call that the lease had completed and keys handed over while we were over 3000 miles away in New England. More on why we were there at a later date.... And now here we are, back in the UK, keys in hand, and with construction already under way. Now while the place is getting new floors, a cold room and a bar built, and the all important brewery installed, we will be going through all of the procedures of getting the necessary permits and licenses from our council and licensing team. Our new landlords have been truly awesome and its amazing to such supportive and brilliant people involved in the brewery. Already we have been bowled over by the positivity and messages of support from you all on social media. The council have been great about our license application and people have been getting in touch with messages of good luck and support for our new home and saying that they cannot wait for us to open and get serving you all our beers in the tap room. We really have felt the love. Our new home is not where we had planned... One of the key details of this endeavor and the crowdfunding has been that the home for our brewery and tap room would be in Farnham. We launched our crowd funding and started actively publicizing our plans and get people excited about what we were doing; bringing something new and fresh to the town we love. The crowdfunding was amazing. We gained so much support and received so much love for what we wanted to achieve, it just blew us away. Part of the reason that it has taken us so long to find the right place is that we have just been holding out for that perfect place in Farnham that we had always promised. But after 2 years and many disappointments that location just hasn't materialized. And then that's when we found a great semi rural spot with awesome landlords that we just couldn't turn down. For those of your who haven't been keeping up on us on the socials our new location for the Brewery and tap room will be in Kingsley Hampshire, on the Ganders business Park, Forge Road. Its about 15-18 minutes drive south from Farnham center. Whats next? Construction is now underway and we are working with our wonderful landlords and our new neighbors, who we are sharing our building with, to get the build completed as quick as is possible. More on our new neighbors to follow later..... We will be working flat out to get the brewery built and start commissioning the brew house and doing test brews in December. With a view that we want to be able to start brewing in earnest in the early new year so we could start selling to trade and also hopefully being able to sell cans & draft beers in early February. We cannot wait and we have lots of work ahead of us but we are so excited to get Maverick off the ground. We hope you are too! If you haven't, follow us on the socials to get more regular updates on the build and fit out progress. We really do appreciate everyone's patience while we have searched to find the right spot and also all of your support while we get this thing off the ground and build our vision. It’s been six months since our last update and even though we don’t yet have any news of when we will be picking up keys to Maverick’s new manor, we thought we should fill you in on what’s been going on.

Since the heartbreak of losing the Farnham location at the start of the year we have been tirelessly searching for a new place we can call home. We had been hoping that with the lifting of restrictions and the country opening up a bit more, the commercial market would start moving again and with that, some new options would come to light. Whilst this has happened to a degree, we haven’t really seen the type of properties that we had hoped for become available.

However, we’ve certainly not been resting on our laurels – you know us better than that! Since our last update in March, we have been relentlessly hunting out possible locations and widened our search area to places on the outskirts of Farnham, in order to maximize our chances of bagging a great space nearby.

We must have looked at about 20 places in the last six months; sadly, not all of them have been right, or wanted a brewery in their building. Seriously? Who wouldn’t want to rent their building to an awesome brewery that is going to make quality craft beer and open a tap room?!??! Believe me, these people do actually exist; we have dealt with them!

Right now, we have two potential places that we are talking to landlords about; one right in the center of Farnham, and the second in a semi-rural location just 3 minutes by bus out of town on the A31. We really hope one of these work out and the moment we have any news we will share it with you straight away.

Like us, you must be getting itchy feet and wondering if is this ever going to happen. We get it. We feel that way too. With this endeavor, and all of the challenges it has thrown at us, we knew it was never going to be an easy ride. Hey, who could have predicted what we have all faced, the world over, in the last 18 months or so?

We continue to approach our search with a calmness and patience, knowing that what we are doing is right for Maverick in the long term.

So, if that means an extra few months to find our perfect home sweet home, then so be it. Our determination and drive comes from the support we get from you, our amazing backers and the great community around us.

And on that note, we have continued to make new friends and connections in the beer industry and recently visited Jonny down at Pipeline Brewing (www.pipelinebrewing.co.uk)in St Agnes, Cornwall.

He’s a top bloke and we spent the whole afternoon talking beer and brewing. In fact, we have already started on a collaboration beer which will be lined up as quickly as we can after we open.

If you are in Cornwall do drop into their tap room on a Friday or Saturday as his beers are really quite fantastic, especially "Eyes on you"

As we head into winter and still slightly uncertain times, we hope everyone continues to support local and stay safe - and that includes visiting your local pub or bar. These social and community focused spaces are really important to us all and we need to do what we can to support their recovery post-lockdown. We really could not imagine doing what we are doing without awesome people like you, supporting our plans.

We haven’t had a great deal to shout about on social media since our last update but keep an eye out on instagram and facebook and you should be seeing more of what we are up to soon.

If anyone wants to get in touch to find out more about our search or even tell us about that place you’ve found which would be just perfect for a marvelous brewery like Maverick then please do get in touch via email or through the socials.

We can’t wait to see you all in person soon.

Stay safe and #bemoremaverick

Eventually, we’ll see this as a mere bump in the road…

As you will know, we have been on quite the roller coaster these last six months or so, bringing Maverick to life. One of the key details of this endeavor has been the home for our brewery and tap room in Farnham. We agreed lease terms in principle with the landlord back in July 2020, which meant we could launch the crowd funding and start actively publicizing our plans and get people excited about what we were doing; bringing something new and fresh to the town we love. The crowdfunding was amazing. We gained so much support and received so much love for what we wanted to achieve, it just blew us away. Not only did we reach our crowdfunding target, we smashed it. All with the amazing backing from people like you.

Since then, we have been jumping through the usual hoops when negotiating a lease, in order for us to secure this dream location in central Farnham, and busily sorting all the licenses and permits we need.

In fact, we have been pleasantly surprised at the support and ease with which we were able to secure them all! The town council have been great with granting licenses and the local community and press too, have been so supportive; people are clearly keen for a brewery that not only contributes towards the community it serves, but that serves the community great beers in a vibrant and chilled environment!

We really have felt the love.

However – and there is always a but isn’t there?

During our lease negotiations we learnt that we actually had to deal with not just one, but two levels of landlord which, inevitably, has complicated matters - and that’s before we even bring Coronavirus and a third lockdown into conversation.

Throughout this process we have tried to be as open and transparent as possible with everyone – our backers, our investors, our supporters and our landlord(s).

And so, it is with heavy heart that we have to tell you that in late January we received the most awful news that we had dreaded.

Despite our best efforts to push the contracts and agreements through the various layers of red tape and landlords, they have dropped us at the last minute for what looks like a more lucrative offer.

After receiving this heart-breaking news we tried to save the situation but sadly, after a number of weeks we found out that this was not possible and since then we have been working hard to limit the financial damage to the business because of all of the commitments to licenses, deposits, solicitor costs, lease legal commitments and all of the pre-work that we had done so we could hit the ground running as soon as we received keys.

This has hurt and to be honest, sank our spirit to the lowest point it has ever been.

What do we do now? Where do we go from here?

We had, fleetingly, considered throwing in the towel. We have invested so much of our time, love and money to get this far that to see it taken away from us is absolutely crushing. In fact it’s more than that. To have something outside of our control stop us building something that so many people have told us they were so looking forward to - something that is just what Farnham needs - makes us feel like we have somehow failed every single one of our supporters. However… We are lucky to be part of the most wonderful community; people who have kept us going and have driven us on through the last six months. We have had set backs before and whilst this is quite a biggie, this hurdle is not going to stop us. We are absolutely committed to delivering on the pledges that you made, and we are determined to make Maverick a reality. We will still bring top quality, exciting and interesting craft beer to Farnham and the surrounding area. In short; we are not giving up, and we will not go away. This will not stop Maverick Brewing becoming a reality. So what’s next? Well, from here we move forward. We are still perfecting our recipes and coming up with more exciting beers and experimenting with even more interesting styles. And we are, of course, looking for a new home. We still want to be in Farnham - ideally still in the centre or at least as close to it as we possibly can be, given than industrial space is few and far between – and we would love for you to help us. If you know of somewhere that is available and suitable for a 1,300+ sq ft brewery that could also fit a small tap-room, then let us know! In the meantime, as we restart the search for premises, we will be contacting some our friends in the industry to see if there are any other ways we can get our beers into your hands sooner. Eventually, we’ll see this as a mere bump in the road on our phenomenal journey, and we’ll no doubt have a good laugh about it - over a delicious, cold beer of course! Keep safe and well, and look after the people and businesses around you by staying at home and buying local where you can.

These are difficult times for all of us but it’s awesome people like you, supporting new and small business like Maverick, that keep us all going. Team Maverick #bemoremaverick
